Have a s/s table from an old Burger King..can a marble top be placed on top to be used as a counter top?

also: any other ideas for making this a nice cabinet in my garage apartment...

  2. If you use marble, be sure that there is no flex in the top itself. Marble is fairly weak when installed horizontally and may crack. Further, marble is porous and alkaline- it can stain and etch. Acidic foods and drinks chemically interact with the chemistry of the marble and cause dull spots. the coloring in foods can easily be absorbed into the pores of marble. A better choice may be a slab of granite. Granite is stronger, less porous and not affected by acids. It's also VERY tough and stands up to heat, scratching, and spills. It's great for countertops as a result. If you use stone on the top, affix it to your table with silicone adhesive to bond it to the steel.
