I am having two kitchen cabinets installed on the top and two on the bottom with a counter top about 15 inches

long along the existing two cabinets on top and two cabinets on the bottom. having a light switch moved. I am buying the kitchen cabinets myself and if the carpenter installs it after he puts it together, he says he will charge labor only $750.00 do u think it's high? please help me...i dont' want to get ripped off. Are carpenters more expensive to use for installing cabinets? What is the going rate for a Handyman? Is $75.00 an hr a lot? cause that's what Handyman matters is charging...help..any handymen out there? I live in the suburbs of chicago. can someone give me some honest handymen contacts please? its' so hard to find honest people to do work like this. anyone recommend a handyman for me? sorry i meat 10 15 foot long counter tops not 15 inches...

  1. in my opinion, that seems a little low, I'd be a bit leary about the person and exactly what his 'scope' will include and his time frame involved. this is based on california rates which are usually a bit higher, but being charged $75/hour for a talented carpenter is fairly typical.
