Does anyone have red cabinets in their kitchen? How do they look? Do you have any pictures?

My husband and I are buying a beautiful old house, but the kitchen has not been updated. The cabinets are brown and depressing. Until we can afford to put new cabinets in, I wanted to be able to make the kitchen cute and funky by painting the cabinets (red). The walls are a nice color of yellow -- so I was thinking of doing yellow/red/black/white color combo...any thoughts? I'd love some pics of red cabinets. Another thought I had was to paint the cabinets white -- a little more traditional...THANKS!

  1. i have red walls in my kitchen and i love them. don't know how red floors would look
  2. We have white cabinets in the kitchen but we have a very LARGE red entertainment center in the living room. The walls in the living room are a very soft yellow. The two colors together very well. I can send a pic if you are interested.
  3. Although red can look fantastic in a kitchen you need to be careful with your lighting, and try to avoid red around areas where you cook meat - red kitchens can make things look undercooked....and then you end up overcooking things to compensate...great kitchen....not so great meals. That said these days even Ikea have jumped on the red kitchen bandwagon, link to their red units below. Page 10
  4. I dont have 'em - mexican theme going on right now - but I just saw a picture of a kitchen done in red in an old Better Homes and Garden magazine. Brick red cabinets, brick red paint walls and then white paint by the stove. The appliances were all black. The floor was black n white tiles. It all looked sooooo nice, it just had that "WOW!" look.
